At 7 p.m. Sunday, Chie Imaizumi's small big band is at Dazzle with a lineup that includes Gisbert and Gunther as well as two members of the Air Force Falconaires big band, saxophonist Ricky Sweum and trombonist Scott Crump ($12).
The Falconaires commissioned a piece from Imaizumi that the big band premiered at the Monterey Jazz Festival with Imaizumi conducting. The piece, Sharing the Freedom, brought the Monterey crowd to its feet and is on tap for Sunday. You can catch the Monterey performance on YouTube.

CCJA (COLORADO CONSERVATORY FOR THE JAZZ ARTS) will again host its Spring Concert/Fundraising Event: Jazz-O-Rama 2008!
Aptly named for the panorama of simultaneous live jazz, this concert will feature all Spring CCJA groups, as well as the Big Band and the CCJA Faculty playing the music under the direction of internationally acclaimed composer Chie Imaizumi.
This festive evening will be held at THE DENVER SCHOOL OF THE ARTS
7111 MONTVIEW BLVD in Denver. (The corner of Montview, which is 20th, and Quebec.)
The performances will take place on three different stages, and there will be a wonderful silent auction from 6:30-8pm.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students.* (CCJA students do not need tickets!) Please help us make the event a success by inviting lots of people who want to experience the excitement of hearing all of the inspiring CCJA musicians! In order to avoid long ticket lines at the event, you can purchase tickets online with credit cards through April 22. (Tax-deductible donations can also be made in this way.) Beginning the day of the event, tickets will only be sold at the door.
